MASS EFFECT 3
by Tore Andersen
Mass Effect 3 is the third game in the legendary Space Action-RPG series from BioWare, released in 2012 and still a masterpiece. Technically the game is excellent, only the textures, models and world detail show the games ago a little. This project will enhance the visuals and effects, plus optionally add a new custom ReShade for better lighting, AA and image clarity. The guide has step-by-step instructions, no modding experience needed.
3: Mod installation
1 - Requirements
1: Mass Effect 3 (Latest version) with all
single-player DLCs installed
2: Sign up at the Nexus. It's free and it takes 2 minutes. (LINK)
3: Start the game at least once
4: If you have the Origin version of the game, turn Auto Update "off", otherwise Origin might start to "update" the modded files, if it find the different file-sizes after a scan. This will of course break the mods, and everything would have to be re-installed.
Note: If you get an error message when launching Mass Effect 3 for the first time, saying that the game failed to initialize the physics system, just open "Programs and Features" and repair "NVIDIA Physics". It's common to get this error if you bought the game on Origin.
2 - DLCs
Required DLCs: (Single-player):
Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut ending
Extra DLCs: (Multiplayer):
*The DLCs can be bought and downloaded via the Origin Store (LINK)
3 - Mod Installation
DLL Patch (LINK)
Download and unpack the file into a temporary folder, then move the content of "Me3/Release/" into "\Binaries\Win32\" inside the Mass Effect 3 game-folder. Overwrite.
*This will make the game recognize mods that are made as DLC packages.
Extended Final Anderson Conversation (LINK)
Download and install.
Ashley Liara and Kaidan Romance Wakeup (LINK)
Download and unpack the file into "\BIOGame\DLC\" inside the Mass Effect 3 game-folder.
A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) for ME3 (LINK)
Download 1: "ALOT 2018 - Installer"
Download 2: "ALOT for ME3 6.0 - Textures"
Download 3: "ALOT for ME3 6.3 - Update"
Texture Installation (About 50 mods)
Note: This will take up 20GB if you install all textures. I highly recommend it anyway, as it will greatly improve quality
1: Make a temporary folder in the root of your hard-drive.
2: Move the "ALOT 2018 - Installer-363-2018.exe" into the folder and run it.
It will install itself into "ALOT Installer" inside the temporary folder, and automatically start the program.
3: Move "ALOT for ME3 - Textures-363-2018-6-0.zip" and "ALOT for ME3 6.3 - Update-363-2018-6-3.zip" into "\ALOT Installer\Downloaded_Mods\".
After moving the files, they should show as green checkmarks in the program.
4: Download ALL "ME3" texture-packs one by one. Click the links, download the files, and move them into "\ALOT Installer\Downloaded_Mods\". Just as with the ALOT texture pack & update.
As soon as a mod has been downloaded and moved into the folder, the red download arrow should change into a green checkmark.
After downloading and moving all texture packs, the program should look like this:
Warning: I have gotten several messages about the "Install for ME3" option not being available, so I decided to write about this here. It's a piracy check. If you don't have a legitimate copy of Mass Effect 3, you will not be able to install the textures. (LINK) *See the post from owlovethbl.
5: Click "Install for ME3"
Follow installation instructions. (Remember to check everything but "User Files" before building & installing.)
This will take about 60 minutes, even on a fast computer. When done, you can delete the temporary folder. All textures have been installed.
M3EP ReShade (DOWNLOAD)
Download and unpack into the Mass Effect 3 game-folder.
*Note for Windows 10 users:
The Creators update for Windows 10 introduced a wide variety of problems, especially for games with custom renders like ENB or ReShade. If you encounter problems like messed-up graphics or extreme slowdowns, then follow the steps in number 4 here: (LINK) *Pay special attention to the RivaTuner settings.
If this doesn't work, then Windows is somehow still blocking it. Search Google for alternative ways of forcing Windows 10 to use custom d3d files. If you are unable to fix it, then you will have to uninstall the ReShade and play without. Just delete the d3d9.dll file but keep everything else.
Before starting the game again, block it in your firewall, so
it can't connect to the internet. Just to make sure that the online DLC check
doesn't start to mess up the updated content or complain about the extra DLC
packages from the Nexus mods.
Block the following 3 files:
And from inside the Mass Effect 3 game folder:
If the game gives you problems with the DLC content, install the following patch:
*This patch will also enable the game to launch without Origin running in the background, taking up resources for no reason.
Patch (DOWNLOAD) *Optional
Download and unpack into the Mass Effect game folder. Overwrite.
That's it. Mass Effect 3 is ready for launch

Mass Effect 3 Game Info
Mass Effect 3 the third action role-playing third person
shooter game from BioWare, published and released by Electronic Arts in 2012.
It's the final game in the Mass Effect trilogy, which completes the story about
Commander Shepard. Just like the previous games, Mass Effect 3 received
overwhelmingly good reviews from both fans and critics. The game was highly praise
the story, the art,
the combat system, the depth of the characters, the soundtrack, and the voice
great acting. Mass Effect 3 was nominated for
5 awards at the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards, and it won Best RPG of 2012.
Mass Effect 3 has six different character classes with each their unique skill-sets. The game can be played in 3 different ways: Action, Story, or RPG. In Action Mode, conversations have automatic replies and combat difficulty is normal. In Story Mode, the conversations have manual replies and combat difficulty is minimal. The RPG mode offers conversations with manual replies and normal combat difficulty. The only "real" way to play the game in my personal opinion. Besides the tweaked combat system, Mass Effect 3 also has customizable weapons. This new feature was well received by both critics and gamers. The weapons can be augmented with different ammo types, barrels, modifications, and scopes. Simple but useful.
The player mainly gets around the universe in Normandy SR2, the handy space-ship from where the player can use a galaxy map to choose his/her destination. The main focus of the game is to get ready for the final battle against the Reapers. Throughout the game, the player must make some pretty big decisions that significantly impact the game's story and direction.
Mass Effect 3 is the most difficult game of the series. It has better AI and the choices the player has to make are tougher. Enemies no longer act solely on their own, as they did in the previous two games, now they fight and support each other. The hero of the game is Commander Shepard, who is either male or female depending of the players choice.
Multiplayer: Mass Effect 3 has a multiplayer / co-op mode called "Galaxy at War". Here players can play up to four people online, in unique missions that can impact the outcome of the single-player campaign. The multi-player part is about taking over enemy strongholds. It work similarly to Gears of War's horde mode. Non of the characters from the single-player campaign are featured in the multiplayer mode. The players have to create a new characters for multiplayer, and can play as members of non-human species too, including Asari, Batarians, Drell, Krogans, Quarians, Salarians, Turians, Geth, Vorcha and Volus.
BioWare planned the Mass Effect series to be a trilogy from the very beginning, with the first two games as a preamble to the third and final game. BioWare actually began production of Mass Effect 3 before Mass Effect 2 was released. Already in 2010, almost same time as the release of Mass Effect 2, Electronic Arts posted an official synopsis for Mass Effect 3.
