VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES
ENHANCEMENT PROJECT

by Tore Andersen

Step-by-step modification guide
Improved visuals and new content

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a cult RPG, developed and released by Troika in 2004. The game is still phenomenal despite it's age, but the graphics are not of today's standards (2017). This project will fix numerous game errors, add higher resolution and give the game a newer visual effect render. Optionally some new content can be added as well.

ADULT MEGA-MOD - MOD-LIST
NOTE: This mod contains nudity. Don't install the following content if that's not for you.

This is a total conversion of the game. I highly recommend installing it in a separate folder so the game can be played with / without.
*The content is very graphical and, in my opinion, a bit 'over the top'. It does fit within the vampire city world, but lore-friendliness is debatable.

1: Rename the game-folder to something different
E.g.: If the game is installed in "VtMB", then rename to "VtMB-UP". Or whatever you want.
*From here on, "VtMB" and "VtMB-UP" will be used as folder reference names.

2: Install "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines" again with the latest 1.2 update, to the original folder name, "VtMB".
*You should now have "VtMB-UP", with setup from earlier, and "VtMB" with the newly installed game.

3: Download True Patch Gold
(DOWNLOAD)
Unpack into the new game-folder. Overwrite.
*The next mod won't work with any other patches, so this one has to be used.

4: The Mega-Mod 10t Anniversary Edition
(DOWNLOAD)
Unpack into the new game-folder. Overwrite.

5: Download The Mega-Mod V.B.E.P. Mega-Mod Fix (DOWNLOAD)
Unpack into the new game-folder. Overwrite.

6: Download The V.B.E.P. ReShade (DOWNLOAD)
Unpack into the new game-folder.

7: Rename this game-folder to something different
Rename "VtMB" to E.g.: "VtMBMega"

8: Rename the original game-folder back to it's original name
Rename "VtMB-UP" back to "VtMB"

Now the original enhanced version of the game is located here: "VtMB"
And the adult Mega-Mod version is located here: "VtMBMega"

9A: Make a shortcut to start the Enhanced version
Make the shortcut to this file: "VtMB\vampire.exe"

9B: Make a shortcut to start the Mega-Mod version
Make the shortcut to this file: "VtMBMega\vampire.exe"

10A: Add a string to the Enhanced shortcut target. *This is needed for the Unofficial Patch.
Right click the shortcut, and add "-game Unofficial_Patch" to target.
If you installed the game in: "D:\Games", the target should now look like this:
"D:\Games\VtMB\vampire.exe" -game Unofficial_Patch

10B: Add a string to the Mega-Mod shortcut target. *This will allocate more memory to the game engine.
Right click the shortcut, and add "-heapsize 840000" to target.
If you installed the game in: "D:\Games", the target should now look like this:
"D:\Games\VtMBMega\vampire.exe" -heapsize 840000

11: Set the shortcut to always run as administrator
Right click the shortcut and go to the "Compatibility" tab. Check "Run this program as an administrator" and press OK.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is now fully updated and ready to play

GAME INFO

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a first-person action RPG from 2004, developed by Troika and released by Activision. It's based upon Wolf Publishing's World of Darkness and role-playing game "Vampire: The Masquerade". The story is taking place in the night life of 21st Century Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Hollywood, where the player has just been turned into a fledgling vampire. The plot revolves around the truth behind a relic that could be the end of all vampires. The city has several vampire clans, each with unique powers and backgrounds, which the player can choose from. The game is semi open-world, but not to the extend of modern day RPG's. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is the second game in the vampire series, and by far the best of the two. Unfortunately, because of Activision pushind the developers to a strict deadline, Bloodlines was released before it was completely finished. It came with several technical bugs and unfinished content, which is why it didn't receive great feedback at the time. The game is solely a classic today because of support from the modding community.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is an action role-playing game developed by Troika Games and published by Activision in 2004. The game is based on the popular tabletop role-playing game, Vampire: The Masquerade, which is set in the World of Darkness universe. The game's story is set in the city of Los Angeles and follows the player character, a newly-created vampire, as they navigate the city's vampire underworld and battle rival factions.

The gameplay of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a mix of first-person shooter and role-playing game elements. Players can choose to play as one of seven different vampire clans, each with their own unique abilities and weaknesses. The player can also choose to specialize in one of the game's three main skills: stealth, melee combat, or firearms. The game features a dialogue system that allows players to interact with characters and make choices that affect the story and the player's reputation with different factions.

One of the most notable features of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is its rich and detailed story. The game's narrative is heavily influenced by the source material and explores the themes of power, politics, and morality in the vampire world. The player's choices throughout the game affect the story and the relationships they have with other characters. The game also features multiple endings based on the player's actions and choices.

The characters in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines are well-written and fully-fleshed out. Each character has their own unique backstory and motivations. The player will encounter a wide range of characters throughout the game, from other vampires to werewolves and other supernatural creatures. The game's voice acting is also noteworthy, with many of the characters being voiced by well-known actors such as Kirsten Dunst, Tom Jane, and Brad Dourif.

In terms of graphics, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines was considered to be ahead of its time when it was released in 2004. The game features detailed character models and environments, as well as realistic lighting and particle effects. The game's art style is heavily influenced by the gothic and noir genres, creating a dark and atmospheric setting.

The development of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines was a challenging one, with the game's development studio, Troika Games, facing financial and time constraints. Despite these challenges, the game was released to positive reviews and has since gained a cult following. The game's success has led to the development of a fan-made patch, which addresses many of the game's bugs and improves the overall experience.

In conclusion, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a unique and immersive action role-playing game that combines a rich and detailed story with engaging gameplay mechanics. The game's characters, graphics, and atmosphere are all noteworthy and the game's development challenges only add to its cult status. It's a must-play for fans of vampire fiction and role-playing games.
